The State of Louisiana’s Department of Environmental Quality (LADEQ) mission is to provide service to the people of Louisiana through comprehensive environmental protection in order to promote and protect health, safety and welfare while considering sound policies regarding employment and economic development.

At LADEQ, KPI Partners implemented a 6 week Quick Start Program for Business Intelligence.  The goal of the Quick Start was two-fold.  Firstly, to have KPI’s consultant mentor and provide knowledge transfer to the LADEQ team.  Secondly, work with the LADEQ team to implement a set of Oracle Business Inteligence Enterprise Edition (OBIEE) reports and dashboards on the LEAU Water Quality database.

The project involved 5 days of training followed by six weeks of implementation and knowledge transfer.  In addition to OBIEE metadata and report/dashboard development, KPI helped design Oracle database materialized views to convert the LEAU database data structure from a normalized transaction structure to a star schema structure optimized for performance.

The application make it easy for government users to answer their business questions.
