1-on-1 With Norman Dy

Where is your hometown?  I grew up in San Francisco, CA but have lived in San Diego for the past several years.  I’ve lived in a dozen places in Southern California prior to San Diego.

Describe your role at KPI... As Director of Business Development - Western Region, I work with the team to make customers successful with their Data Warehouse and Business Intelligence solutions using Oracle technologies.

Describe your professional background... I have a Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering (BSME) from Cal Poly, San Luis Obispo.  I have  a Master’s Degree in Business (MBA)  from the University of Southern California..

What do you do in your free time?  I’ve recently reacquainted myself with running… it clears my mind.  I don’t run as much as I used to, but I love the clarity.

What do you see as the #1 challenge with Business Intelligence?  Business Intelligence yields more than just “Reporting” for a company.  Within BI, my wish is to ensure that customers take advantage of the true analysis capabilities that such solutions provide.

What was your first job?   I used to deliver newspapers as a twelve year old.  I don’t think you can do that nowadays.  Besides, home-delivered local newspapers will probably go away at some point.
