The client needed to reduce license, support, and training costs for its Oracle BI portfolio while ensuring that user needs were met and exceeded. Client had an expensive Oracle BI apps platform running on an on-premise Oracle database and using Oracle BI as the reporting tool. In addition to its high cost, the Oracle BI platform had performance issues, lacked key capabilities such as data visualization, and was very slow to implement.
The client initially embarked on a journey to build a custom data warehouse on Amazon RedShift with Tableau. However, this process was taking a long time. KPI proposed using its pre-built solution: KPI Cloud Analytics for Amazon RedShift and Tableau. Client selected the following modules: Accounts Payable, Accounts Receivables, Projects, General Ledger, and Fixed Assets.
KPI did a 6 week POC for Accounts Receivables and delivered a solution 2x as fast and at 75% cost savings over the custom build approach. Client was so pleased with the results that they green-lighted a project to deliver an additional 4 KPI Cloud Analytics modules.
What KPI Delivered
KPI delivered five KPI Cloud Analytics modules using a blended onsite and offshore team consisting of business experts in finance, Amazon Redshift experts, and Tableau experts. KPI worked with the client to extend the solution to include near-real-time reporting as well as a data security model.
The KPI team implemented Amazon Red Shift best practices such as optimized distribution and sort keys, parallel data loads, etc. KPI also implemented Tableau best practices such as user-friendly Tableau Data Sources, a Tableau friendly data security model.
The KPI Cloud Analytics solution reduced software licensing, hardware, and support costs while giving business users a more agile solution for financial reporting including visualization, user self-service, and significantly improved performance.
