Migration Process: Five Stages

 

Workload Assessment and Profiling

Source database objects are profiled, including schemas, tables, views, stored procedures, functions, row volumes, and query complexity. This enables migration planning and complexity assessment.

Schema Conversion (DDL/DML)

Source DDL is extracted and converted to Redshift-compatible CREATE TABLE statements. Data types, constraints, and partitioning schemes are translated. Unsupported constructs are flagged with recommended alternatives.

GenAI SQL Dialect Translation

Stored procedures, views, UDFs, and ad-hoc queries are converted from the source SQL dialect to Redshift SQL using a GenAI translation engine. Conversion confidence scores guide SME review priorities.

Distribution and Sort Key Advisor

Query workload patterns are analyzed to recommend optimal DISTKEY and SORTKEY assignments, compression encodings, and materialized view candidates for maximum Redshift performance.

Validation and Reconciliation

Data validation and reconciliation are handled separately using KPI Partners Data Validator accelerator, which performs row-count, aggregate-level, and statistical validation between source and Amazon Redshift outputs.
