Legacy ETL platforms such as Informatica PowerCenter and Oracle Data Integrator (ODI) carry complex transformation logic, tightly coupled workflows, and significant operational overhead. In addition, Informatica PowerCenter is approaching end-of-life for on-premises deployments, creating urgency for organizations to migrate to modern, cloud-native platforms.
 
KPI Partners' ETL Migration Accelerator for AWS Glue leverages a GenAI-assisted framework to parse Informatica and ODI metadata (mappings, workflows, packages, procedures), generate optimized PySpark or AWS Glue jobs, and support deployment of production-ready pipelines. The accelerator focuses on automated conversion of ETL logic into AWS Glue jobs, including transformation mapping, dependency handling, and workflow sequencing. Data validation and reconciliation are handled separately using KPI Partners Data Validator accelerator.

Migration Process: Five Stages

 

Metadata Extraction

Source mapping files (Informatica XML, ODI metadata exports) are ingested and parsed to extract transformation logic, dependencies, and parameters.

Dependency and Logic Analysis

Workflow dependencies, sequencing, and transformation patterns are analyzed to prepare migration inventory and complexity assessment.

Code Generation (PySpark / Glue)

GenAI-assisted logic generates PySpark code or AWS Glue Studio jobs. Standard transformations (joins, lookups, aggregations, filters) are mapped to Spark equivalents. Complex or custom logic is translated into Python-based transformations.

Glue Job Conversion and Deployment

Generated jobs are configured with AWS Glue settings, IAM roles, job parameters, and integrated with Glue Data Catalog. AWS Step Functions is used for orchestration of Glue jobs, including dependency handling, sequencing, and conditional execution where required.

Unit Testing and Deployment

Generated jobs are unit tested for execution completeness and integrated into deployment pipelines. Data validation and reconciliation are not part of this accelerator and are handled separately using KPI Partners Data Validator accelerator.
